Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 January 2026

City Comedy Club ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

We are City Comedy Club London, operating from Trapeze Bar, 89 Great Eastern St, London EC2A 3HX. For data protection enquiries contact hello@citycomedyclub.co.uk.

2. What we collect

  • Booking data: name, email, phone number, billing address, ticket selection.
  • Payment data: processed securely by our payment provider — we never store full card numbers.
  • Account data: if you create an account, your email address and login credentials.
  • Marketing preferences: if you opt in to our mailing list.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser, device, pages visited (via cookies and analytics).

3. How we use it

  • To process your booking and send confirmation emails.
  • To contact you about a show change, cancellation or important update.
  • To send marketing emails — only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To improve our website and understand which shows are popular.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

4. Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of: (a) contract — to deliver the tickets you bought; (b) legitimate interest — to run our business and improve our service; (c) consent — for marketing and non-essential cookies; (d) legal obligation — for accounting and fraud prevention.

5. Sharing your data

We share data only with trusted service providers — our payment processor, email provider, and ticketing platform. We do not sell your data to third parties. All providers are bound by GDPR-compliant contracts.

6. How long we keep it

Booking and accounting records are kept for 7 years (UK tax law). Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Cookie data is kept for up to 2 years.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies (to make the site work) and analytics cookies (to count visits anonymously). Non-essential cookies are only set if you accept them via our cookie banner.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict processing, object to processing, and ask for your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email us. We respond within 30 days.

9. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, secure cloud hosting, and limit staff access to personal data. Despite our best efforts, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.

11. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
